13 years of marriage

i would love to say it has been all bliss and happy times - but it hasn't been, like any marriage we have lots of ups and some very sad downs. But we are together - happy and content!
Greg and I knew each other at school and then met back up together a few years later when we were 19 and 20. Within 8 weeks we were engaged and married the following year! So young!
So today started with Greg giving me some new earrings - we never do presents so this made my heart smile. then to town for cake and coffee and now spending the rest of the day relaxing....

SLR Fall Class

So I have been a bit slow with this weeks assignments. Not for lack of wanting to but the weather here in New Zealand has been crazy! We have had a storm the size of Australia bear down on us and the winds have been crazy. So to get outside and photograph has been near impossible! i think there were 8 photos to be done this week and I have only done 5! Whoops. Will try and get the rest done today! i am in the middle of doing one now - photographing my day!

Its a long story

and I am not sure I can even shorten it enough to write but a while back I posted about my Dad and his Father's war medals. (wish I knew how to link you back to it)
I finally got around to photographing them - in the home of their rightful owner.
I never knew my Grandad - he died way before I was born at only 56 years old. So young. Just digging in the garden his heart gave out and he died. I wish I knew him. He sounded like an amazing man.

My brother in law goes to Italy next week for work. He is gone for 2 months so I wanted to get some photos of their family before he went away. We all love the results

SLR Fall Class

So i started my month long course this week with Faith.
It all about
  • Aperture
  • ISO
  • White Balance
  • Shutter speed

So I get all of those. I know how they all work. I can do each one really well BUT I can't do them together. I can do ISO,WB and Aperture. Fine. No problem but try sorting the shutter speed - no way. Then I can do Shutter, ISO and WB - nope can't do the aperture.
So result = I can't shoot in Full Manual mode. There I said it.
*stands up in front of you all* Hi, My names Angela (Hi, Angela) I can't shoot in full Manual mode. (was surposed to sound like AA or something!!)
So my plan for this course is to get them working together!
Posted are some of my assignment photos. All shot in AV.

On a side note: My American friends, what is pound cake? I saw it listed in a recipe and I have no idea what it is? :)

Amalie's 4 years at OneTrueMedia.com

I can't believe its been 4 years!
4 years since we drove 2 hours with our fingers crossed so tightly for her to be ours
4 years since I hugged Erin and promised I would keep her baby safe
4 years since we stayed in that motel but didn't sleep for more than an hour
4 years since Muffin Break charged us $25 for a muffin without us knowing till we got home!
4 years since we waited in our car for over 2 hours outside an address, waiting for the phone to ring to say she was ours
4 years since we sat in that car with a 3 1/2 year old in the back asking every 5 mins "When do we get Baby Amalie"
4 years since I ran to that door and burst through it to see a very special lady holding our daughter

Its been 4 years. And everyday I am thankful

Christchurch Earthquake 7.1

http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/4096872/Civil-servants-in-top-level-quake-meeting

So yesterday morning we woke to the news that Christchurch had been struck by a huge earthquake. Some say it was 7.1 some say it was 7.4. But what we do know is that it was huge.
For those that dont know New Zealand very well we are made up of two islands - the North Island and the South Island. (How original!) We live in the North and the earth quake was in the South island.
Now at the bottom of the north island is Wellington which is our Capital. That sits on a major fault line. Christchurch does not so it was so weird to hear of an earth quake there.
The link is to some amazing photos - I couldn't save them individually sorry so if you are interested please take a look.
My sister and her family flew out of Christchurch on Friday night at 5pm. The earthquake was on Saturday morning at 4.30 am. They missed it by hours. We are so very thankful.
