Amalie turned 4 on Saturday. We had such a great day. She woke around 6.30am saying "NO more sleeps Mama. No more sleeps." She jumped into our bed and we gave her her presents - Oliver gave her a Littlest Pet shop thingy. We have her a new Kindy bag and 2 goldfish! She was so excited to see the fish. Her party was at 3pm so she had a long wait. and what do you know at 3pm on the dot it started to rain. Rain like take on step out in it and you are soaked to the bone!! We still had a great time and the kids loved decorating their cupcakes.
Oh how I love this song....and I am not usually a "poster" of music but this song makes me happy (and sad at the same time as its on a TV ad here about a young man having a baby abd then reaches out to his own father he has not seen in years)
OK I am even going to post the words!!! Sing along if you know the tune. Loud and proud is how we sing in our house!
Absence make her heart grow fonder While I'm conquering the last frontier Lately I've found myself wonderin' out loud Wonderin' what I was doin' here
[Chorus] One day you'll understand how much you have me One day you'll realise we have it easy I can't offer you the future - I don't know it myself All I can offer you is me I'm all I can offer you right now
Patience make her heart grow stronger Reassure her she's where I want to be Never was the grass ever greener I'm about ready as I'll ever be
And one day you'll understand how much you have me One day you'll realise we have it easy If an expression of love is what you need to believe All I can offer you is me I'm all I can offer you right now
[Music]
I'm all I am All I am, yeah
One day you'll understand how much you have me One day you'll realise we have it easy I can't offer you the future - I don't know it myself All I can offer you is me
One day you'll understand how much you have me One day you'll realise we have it easy If an expression of love is what you need to believe All I can offer you is me I'm all I can offer you right now
[Pause]
Absence make her heart grow fonder While I'm conquering the last frontier
I just can't believe that my baby girl will be 4 on Saturday!! The time has flown by....she is growing so quickly! While she is dreaming of pickles and yams for her birthday party food (her choice - not mine) I am busy sorting her birthday cake which is one of those giant cupcakes. Hope it turns out well. Saturday has turned into a crazy day for us with so many things on so her party is 3-5pm. She is so excited! I love these little pics of her!! I can't even think what she was laughing about but she thought it was so funny. Time flys when your having fun.....................
So a few months ago I found a great website for little girls hair styles. I fell in love with it and decided that Amalie would have amazing hair do's everyday. I actually did it!! And then we had the "incident" read about that here http://thecrazynessthatisme.blogspot.com/2010/06/she-cut-her-hair.html
So I lost interest in new designs and stuck with a few favs - trying to cover up the mess as I went along.
Last week I took her to have her hair cut by an actual hairdresser - I tried to cut it a few times and mucked up badly.
so today we tried a new hair style. The plaits on the side are to keep the short bits stuck down - like a comb over to hide the shortys!!!
She loves me doing her hair and will sit happily for ages while I do it.
So we had a Quiz night for the school and my sister and I ran the bar. I have little to no experience with alcohol. I am not a drinker but have family, hubby and friends who drink but was clueless!! It was a great night and we raised a ton of money for the school. Check out the pic of me and my sister. She is 11 months older than me!!
excuse the photo - I asked a friend to take it (thank you friend - but its a little blurry) so i ran PW's seventies action over it!

Yes, we went away for the weekend and half way home I realised I had left my camera at the place we were staying! I can't believe it and I miss it already!!
A lady at our school approached me yesterday to ask if I would be interested in photographing the birth of her baby. Did you hear me??? THE BIRTH OF HER BABY Which (so she tells me) will actually involve me being inside the room where a baby is being born. So here goes
there will be blood
there will be other stuff I don't care to mention
there will be lots of people there
I really wont be able to say "Hang on a tick I will just change lens (note to self not to mention a wide angle lens)
I have never been in a delivery room in my life - and that scares and excites me.
I am excited to do this - I was once given the opportunity to be at the birth of my friends third child. I turned it down. That was 8 years ago. I actually got right to the night before convincing myself I could do it but I knew that I wasn't actually worried about the birth bit it was the fact that at the end she would have a baby in her arms - and I didn't. I do regret not going as little did we know I would be holding my baby only a few months later (through adoption) I am older and wiser now (ha ha) and have my 2 children so that feeling is long gone. I hope it all works out that I can do this...will have to wait and see.
Checked out this amazing site for beautiful birth photos
